Augusta Prep Middle Schooler Claire Ivey, along with two other local horse riders, recently brought home a national championship following a very successful week at the Arabian Horse Association Youth Nationals championship equestrian event in Oklahoma City. Claire, age 12, attended the event along with Ashleigh Currier, age 14, of Evans, and Lucy Cubbage, age 10 of Aiken. These three dedicated riders spent the spring and early summer qualifying for nationals at numerous local and regional events.  Once they arrived in Oklahoma City, they were required to advance through elimination rounds to have a chance at the highest level of competition.  All three girls advanced and competed in the finals in a variety of flat and jumping disciplines, including Equitation, Dressage, Working Hunter, and Cross Rails.  Ashleigh, Claire, and Lucy each brought home a national championship, Ashleigh and Claire added two and one reserve national championships respectively, and all three girls earned another combined 15 national Top 10 finishes.Claire This was quite a haul against the best youth riders and horses in the country!  While most young people enjoy sleeping in a bit and taking a break from academics during the summer, these conscientious young women were up early training most days in addition to studying and practicing their intricate dressage and equitation patterns.  They all competed with an incredible amount of poise and determination, and we believe the CSRA was well represented!

Ashleigh, Claire, and Lucy train with and ride for Cynthia Cubbage Sport Horses, LLC.  in Augusta.  Cynthia has been in business since 1996 and has enjoyed much success on the national level with her youth and adult students.
