Augusta Prep has once again received the highest ranking for a private K-12 school for this region and is now listed as No. 7 statewide among the Best K-12 Private School in Georgia, with only six schools from the Atlanta area ranking higher, according to the recently released 2018 Niche rankings.

Niche’s most recent state ranking for private schools that offer a kindergarten through 12th grade education was released on Monday and shows Augusta Prep’s statewide ranking once again rising on the list from No. 10 a year ago now to No. 7.  The Niche ranking is based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents. Ranking factors include SAT/ACT scores, the quality of colleges that students consider, student-teacher ratio, private school ratings, and more.

“A high ranking indicates that the school is an exceptional academic institution with a diverse set of high-achieving students who rate their experience very highly,” according to Niche, which was founded in 2002 by Carnegie Mellon University students as an education research/review service.

The next closest ranking for a private/independent school in the CSRA was 31st.   Locally, to include public schools, Augusta Prep’s Upper School (grades 9-12) ranked as the best high school for STEM education in Columbia County, placing higher than three public high schools in the Columbia County School System.  And among private schools statewide, Augusta Prep’s Upper School ranked No. 7 in Georgia in Niche’s 2018 ranking of Best Private High Schools.

Augusta Prep received an overall Niche grade of A+ as well as an A+ in the category of College Preparation.  Nationwide, Prep ranked No. 180 out of 1,869 private schools that were analyzed by Niche.

One recent review that Augusta Prep received as part of the Niche ranking stated that “Augusta Prep has thoroughly prepared me for college, and I wouldn’t choose another school for any reason.”

In Niche’s Best Public School System rankings for this year, the Columbia County Public School System ranked 21st in the state category and was given an overall Niche grade of B+.  Meanwhile, the Richmond County School System did not place in that specific ranking but received an overall Niche grade of C.

Augusta Prep Head of School Peter Huestis said Prep’s latest ranking with Niche validates the great work that is taking place there daily.

"The high ranking that Augusta Prep has received from Niche is an honor and a testament to the quality of our faculty, the challenging yet supportive academic environment, the endless opportunities to discover and develop passions, and our focus on preparing students to be leaders in and out of the classroom,” he said.  “It is important that we celebrate our inclusion in this selective group of high-ranking independent schools, all of which have tuition costing thousands more than Prep, while adopting a growth mindset to ensure that we are stronger tomorrow than we are today."
